United Way of Canada – Centraide Canada Launched New Site on Ektron’s Web Content Management Platform
Industrial Media and Ektron develop Web site for organization dedicated to improving social conditions across Canada
NASHUA, NH March 26, 2009 – Ektron Inc., a technology and market leader in Web content management software, today announced that the United Way of Canada – Centraide Canada (UWC-CC) is using Ektron CMS400.NET to manage their newly designed public Web site, www.unitedway.ca / www.centraide.ca. Ektron Premier Partner Industrial Media Inc., an Ottawa-based company, led the development and design of the site.
UWC-CC is the national organization for 119 United Ways and Centraides across Canada that work to change living conditions for the better while strengthening communities and improving the quality of life for Canadians. The organization felt that the look and feel of their former public Web site did not effectively communicate who they are and what they do. Industrial Media designed and built an entirely new site using Ektron CMS400.NET that now effectively communicates their mission while highlighting their services.
“We needed a content management system that would allow us to be more creative with the design and layout of our site, while still being easy for our staff to use,” stated Eva Kmiecic, senior vice president at UWC-CC. “We looked at multiple vendor solutions but found that Ektron was able to offer more of what we needed, especially as we start to take advantage of additional Web 2.0 functionality.”
In addition to the design and layout, UWC-CC also needed a public Web site that had the flexibility to organize content while still maintaining an appealing, consistent look and feel across the site. Industrial Media implemented Ektron’s XML Smart Form technology which allows subject matter experts to easily enter structured XML content without jeopardizing UWC-CC’s ability to maintain consistent page layout and style.
“The implementation of Ektron’s XML Smart Form technology resulted in a site that content authors can update on a daily basis with fresh new information without the concern of diluting the established look and feel,” stated Jeff Horne, president of Industrial Media Inc. “Web site administrators have complete control over the format, design and layout, and can empower the creative departments responsible for messaging with the tasks of updating and adding new content.”
“We are very excited to have had the opportunity to develop United Way of Canada – Centraide Canada’s Web site with Industrial Media,” stated Kevin McCloskey, director of Ektron Canada. “Not only is the Web site the national site for the non-profit organization, it is also the portal to each of their local members’ sites across Canada. We are honored to have been part of the process of working with two great organizations for such an important cause.”
