Ektron Positioned in the Visionaries Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management

NASHUA, NH August 6, 2009 – Ektron Inc., a technology and market leader in Web content management software, today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner Inc. in the Visionaries Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management (WCM).

One of the market drivers for the Web content management market space is the addition of Web 2.0. Gartner stated that, “Web 2.0 is also breathing new life into the WCM market, as new ideas spawn regarding how to "monetize" all aspects of these developments, including those of a cultural, technological and platform nature. In addition, organizations that were once satisfied with homegrown, custom made systems are now acutely aware of the risk that they might miss out on opportunities if they don't act now. Their actions are leading to an influx of revenue into commercial software that is more adept at leveraging Web 2.0 capabilities."

“Over the last twelve months, Ektron has undertaken numerous strategic business initiatives   that have positioned the company for the high growth rate that we are experiencing and that we expect to see increase as 2009 continues,” stated Bill Rogers, chief executive officer at Ektron. “We feel that our inclusion in the Web content management Magic Quadrant reflects some of these initiatives and confirms that our future product road map and business strategy is well aligned with our customers needs.”

During the first half of 2009 Ektron has realized a 26% year-over-year growth rate in revenue. The company sees itself very closely aligned with the direction of the WCM market due to its growth rate and the ongoing expansion of its services infrastructure and its product release schedule for later this year.

Ektron believes its WCM and social software solutions, along with its professional services group (PSG) and partner engineering team, set it apart from its competition when it comes to the ability to deliver successful Web projects. With a growth rate of 30% over the last 6 months, both departments have become the go-to resource for partners and customers alike to ensure that their Web projects are strategically delivered from beginning to end.

Ektron also offers a complete platform for social software. Ektron has been delivering social networking technology to its customer base since 2007 and will be releasing advanced social features including micro blogging and activity feeds during the second half of 2009.

“Social networking tools used to be a nice-to-have for enterprise organizations looking to build their Web strategy. Today they are not only a functional requirement but are expected to have a measurable impact on revenue and productivity.” commented Steven Sherkanowski, vice president of marketing at Ektron. “As the Web continues to progress and organizations take into account the future of the Web, social functionality is becoming a requirement. We believe that pairing a leading WCM solution with advanced social technology will give our customers the tools they need to build their Web strategy to meet the demands of today and well into the future.”
