State of Texas Chooses Ektron to Power Web Site Dedicated to Promoting the Well-Being of its Citizens

Ektron Professional Services Group to Build CMS400.NET-powered site for Texas DSHS

NASHUA, NH June 03, 2009
– Ektron Inc., a technology and market leader in Web content management software, today announced that the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has selected the Ektron CMS400.NET Web content management platform to power a completely new version of www.dshs.state.tx.us . Ektron’s team of healthcare advisors and developers will be leading the Texas DSHS Web project from the discovery phase through implementation.

The mission of Texas DSHS is to improve the health and well-being of the state of Texas by providing critical research and information for partners, stakeholders and most importantly, the public. In order to better serve its over twenty million constituents, Texas DSHS came to the conclusion that their Web site needed to be completely redesigned with all of its varied audiences in mind.

With CMS400.NET, Texas DSHS will be able to empower the subject matter experts at each of the individual agencies that work to inform the public on health related matters. Ektron’s SEO toolkit will allow site administrators to optimize the site so that the public can easily find information using all of the leading search engines. Complete workflow and permission models will ensure the Web site remains undiluted and consistent with the branding of Texas DSHS. An intuitive navigation system will also be put in place with Ektron’s taxonomy and search features to improve the service delivery of content to internal and external stakeholders and the general public.

Ektron has served the healthcare vertical since the company was founded in 1998 and has over 150 healthcare Web sites deployed on its Web content management solution. Due to the steady increase of customers in healthcare including providers, payers, associations and agencies, Ektron established a healthcare practice in 2008.

“We know that while Ektron offers a solution that is universal, the healthcare industry’s  unique business model demands focused attention and long term partnering to ensure the success of our healthcare customer’s Web strategies,” stated Bill Rogers chief executive officer at Ektron. “For Texas DSHS, that partnership will mean they will be able to provide credible, timely information online and establish effective communication channels that will allow them to meet their goal of improving the overall health and well-being of the state of Texas.”
