The 451 Group Report Cites Ektron’s “well-rounded WCM product with social and online marketing capabilities”

 

Nashua, NH, December 17, 2009–Ektron Inc., a market leader in enterprise Web content management and social software, today announced that The 451 Group has released a Marketing Insight Service report on the company’s 2009 activities.  An independent technology/industry analyst company, The 451 Group researches information technologies trends affecting large and midsized organizations.

Characterizing Ektron as a vendor “that has done well with a strong focus on a particular target market…” and noting the company’s vertical specialties of government, healthcare and education, analyst Kathleen Reidy focused her report on the new 8.0 version of Ektron CMS400.NET released in October 2009. “Notable recent wins for Ektron include the Texas Department of State Health Services, NASDAQ and AMC Theaters,” says Reidy­­ in her report.  “Its goal is to make the product out-of-the-box enough for smaller companies while offering the scalability, APIs and extensibility options needed by larger organizations.”

Reidy goes on to report Ektron’s growth in professional services personnel as an example of the company retooling its focus to service both smaller companies and larger enterprises.  “Adding more services personnel isn’t a surprising change since Ektron is working with some larger organizations that are more apt to do implementations themselves with the help of some vendor consulting,” she remarks.

Returning to Ektron CMS400.NET, Reidy mentions that “at its core it is a WCM product,” and addresses the platform’s widget framework for page composition.  “There’s a slick widget-based page builder with a ribbon of available widgets that can be dragged and dropped on a page…[allowing] Ektron to deliver new product features outside of formal releases,” Reidy writes.

With a large customer base and “a well-rounded WCM product that includes social and online marketing capabilities,” Ektron is well-positioned for future opportunities Reidy concludes, especially as the popularity of .NET continues to grow.
